The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the results for the 2024 common entrance examination for Unity schools, revealing that 13 candidates scored as low as 01. This information was shared by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, during a press briefing on Tuesday.
Dr. Sununu reminded the public that 71,291 candidates sat for the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which took place across 599 centers on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The data released by NECO highlighted Lagos State as having the highest number of participants, with 17,751 candidates. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) followed with 10,209 candidates, while Anambra State was third with 4,972 candidates.
Out of the total registered candidates, 4,360 were absent, leaving 66,931 who were present for the exam. The minister also noted that the highest score achieved was 203 out of a possible 210.
Dr. Sununu emphasized that the admission process for Unity schools will continue to be based on 60% merit, ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection process. Further details regarding the results and subsequent admissions are expected to be disclosed soon.
