Nigerian Army troops have successfully neutralized at least five terrorists in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation, conducted on August 12, 2024, also resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and equipment, including two Rocket Propelled Gun bombs, six motorcycles, and various firearms and ammunition.
In a statement released on Tuesday via X.com, the Army also reported that 44 Boko Haram terrorists, along with their families, surrendered to troops stationed in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State. The ongoing offensive against terrorist groups in the North East has seen sustained success, with more militants laying down their arms.
The Army’s statement further detailed that in Plateau State, troops arrested a notorious cattle rustler, Maawuya Shuaibu, in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. Shuaibu, who had been on the security agencies’ watchlist due to his involvement in criminal activities across Barikin Ladi, Riyom, and Mangu Local Government Areas, was apprehended following credible intelligence. The troops also recovered 32 rustled cows from the suspect.
Additionally, in Bayelsa State, troops carried out raid operations in the Korokorosie Community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. During the operation, they arrested a suspect, Mr. Donald Emason, and seized a revolver pistol and two locally fabricated guns that had been concealed by him.
In Oyo State, troops deployed in the Akinyele Local Government Area apprehended a suspected gun runner, Mohammed Bello, 33. Bello, who was arrested at his hideout, confessed to supplying arms and ammunition to a kidnap syndicate led by Bello Chikidawoje, which operates in the region.
