With the announcement of Saturday, 28th September, 2024, as the date for Local Government election by Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, different parties are positioning for victory, as aspirants intensify their efforts ahead of party primaries.
In Nnewi North, the dynamics are already changing, especially in the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), as aspirants in the party continue to consult stakeholders and members of the party.
Anaedoonline.ng has reliably gathered that some members of the party have approached Mrs. Uche Nwokenagu, the wife of the former APGA Ward Chairman in Uruagu Nnewi Ward 1, late, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwokenagu (Eze B), for the Vice Chairmanship position.
A key stakeholder of the party in Nnewi, who pleaded anonymity while speaking to our correspondent said that Mrs Nwokenagu was approached by some Nnewi market leaders, to consider becoming a running mate to Chairman of Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts, Dennis Ikegwuonu, who is in the race for the Chairmanship position, if he wins nomination of the party.
Speaking further, he revealed that the nomination of the Wife of Eze B has gotten the blessing of a key stakeholder in Nnewi and some top APGA leaders in Nnewi and Awka.
Still in APGA, frontline aspirant for the Chairmanship position, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, is already gathering massive support across party members in Nnewi North.
Hon. Echezona, who is presently the Secretary-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, is said to have gotten the support of some key stakeholders of the party, who believe that he has served the party and Nnewi, well, and deserves to be rewarded.

A member of APGA in Nnewi North who also spoke to our correspondent and pleaded for anonymity said that Hon. Echezona is the youngest among the aspirants of APGA and is considered experienced in the local politics of Nnewi.
According to him, if the primary election is conducted today, Hon. Echezona Anazodo is adequately prepared and will emerge victorious ahead of others who he claimed are just in the race because it is the turn of Umudim Nnewi.
