A Libyan driver was apprehended on Tuesday in the Bishr area of Libya for attempting to smuggle six undocumented female migrants from Nigeria. The arrest was made during a routine police patrol that intercepted the vehicle and detained both the driver and the migrants.
Migrant Rescue Watch, an organization dedicated to monitoring migrant activities, reported that the driver tried to deceive authorities by claiming the women were his family members. Despite this attempt, the authorities quickly saw through the falsehood and took all involved into custody.
The driver and the six Nigerian women have since been transferred to the Bishr Police Department for further legal proceedings. The case remains under investigation as Libyan authorities work to determine the full extent of the smuggling operation.
