Business magnate Aliko Dangote has revealed that petrol from his state-of-the-art 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery will be available at filling stations across Nigeria within the next 48 hours. During a press briefing on Tuesday, Dangote shared that the product will reach the market once the final arrangements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) are completed.
“Our Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) could be in filling stations within the next 48 hours, depending on NNPCL,” Dangote stated, highlighting the speed at which the product will be distributed once the green light is given.
When asked about the pricing of the petrol from his refinery, Dangote explained that the pricing strategy has been designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He added that as soon as the final agreement with NNPCL is in place, the product could hit the market at any moment, saying, “It can be today, it can be tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market.”
Dangote also assured Nigerians of the exceptional quality of the petrol from his refinery, emphasizing that it would enhance vehicle engine performance and longevity. “You will have good petrol, and the engines of your vehicles will last longer. The issues many of us have experienced with engine problems will be a thing of the past,” he promised.
He further asserted that the quality of the petrol would be on par with global standards, ensuring that the product rivals the best available anywhere in the world. “The quality here will match that of anywhere in the world—whether in the US or Europe. We will ensure that nobody beats us in terms of quality,” Dangote concluded.
