The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has initiated a full investigation into allegations of bribery within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). This decision follows a video posted by social media personality Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, in which Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, made claims about receiving special treatment after his sentencing.

In the video, Bobrisky alleged that following his sentencing, his godfather, in collaboration with the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment instead of prison. Bobrisky stated, “On my way to prison, my godfather called and assured me I wouldn’t go in. He arranged for an apartment near the prison and spoke with the Comptroller General in Abuja. I was taken to this apartment and told to stay there until my sentence was over. They informed the person in charge that their boss instructed them to keep me there, and the person asked for N10 million.”

In response to these claims, the Minister of Interior condemned the alleged misconduct, making it clear that such behaviour would not be tolerated within the paramilitary services under his ministry. A statement released by the minister’s media aide, Alao Babatunde, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to rooting out corruption.

“The Minister of Interior has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the bribery allegations within the Nigerian Correctional Service. He has zero tolerance for indiscipline, unprofessionalism, or corruption and will ensure that any personnel found guilty will face severe consequences,” the statement read.

The investigation will be led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The minister assured the public that the probe would be conducted with transparency and impartiality, and that all those found culpable will be held accountable.
