This morning, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, will be arraigned at the federal high court in Abuja, barring any unanticipated events.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) would dock the former governor on 19 counts of alleged money laundering.
His plea will be heard when he appears before Justice Emeka Nwite.
Controversy Surrounds Yahaya Bello’s Alleged Visit to EFCC Headquarters Amid Ongoing Investigation
It was learnt that the EFCC tried to move the arraignment forward after the former governor appeared before the anti-graft agency, even though it was originally scheduled for January 27 of the next year.
In order to guarantee a smooth arraignment, news reporters learnt that the EFCC’s and the former governor’s legal teams had already received the hearing notice for the arraignment.
Bello will go on trial for the second time after the EFCC brought him before the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court on Wednesday, November 27, on charges of breach of trust.
He contested the 16-count indictment against him and asked for bail so he could be ready to defend himself.

However, the arraignment judge, Justice Maryann Anenih, set a decision date of December 10 for the bail application.
The former governor and two other people who were arraigned with him were ordered by the judge to remain in the custody of the EFCC till the verdict was rendered.
