Lere Olayinka, a media assistant to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has recommended that Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), give up something and back Peter Obi in 2027.
Olayinka was replying to Mfaarees, an X user, who suggested that Obi accept Atiku’s offer of vice president.
Obi and Atiku can overcome the forces of tyranny in Nigeria, he said, adding that Obi has what it takes to preserve the country.

Mfaarees had said: “Peter Obi has what it takes to save this country. If he really cares about Nigerians, he should accept the VP slot with Atiku as President, they’re the only people who can defeat this great force of tyranny.”
Reacting, Lere posted: “Why can’t @atiku also make sacrifice and support @PeterObi for President?”
This coincides with the planned merger negotiations between Nigeria’s leading opposition leaders.
However, PDP chieftain Katchi Ononuju had stated that Obi will not run for Atiku’s vice presidential nomination.
