The Ebonyi state government has reiterated that henceforth no household in the state would be left out in the ongoing net card registration exercise which will make them eligible for the collection of the Long-Lasting Insecticidal Treated Nets (LLIN).

The State Malaria Manager in the Ministry of Health, Mr Lawrence Nwankwo, said this on Tuesday in Abakaliki, while briefing journalists on the progress report made so far in the course of the exercise.

He noted that the household mobilization team commenced the registration process on October 19, to end Oct 27, 2019, while the distribution of the net would begin on 9th through 13th Nov 2019.

According to Nwankwo, a mop-up measure would be adopted for any household that may not have been captured during the process.

He disclosed that the ongoing exercise would be done in sequence and serial manner to capture every household in a particular street and area, adding that the process would be maned by ward supervisor and some mobilizers who will go round settlements.

The agency recalls that the ministry promised to embark on the distribution of 1.7 million Long-Lasting Insecticidal Treated Nets (LLIN) to households in a bid to eradicate malaria in the state.

“The plan is to get every household in the state registered to have the net card because it is the card that qualifies residents to get the net.

” People should endeavor to inform the ministry, in cases where they were not captured so that they will be included on the last day of registration or added in the mop-up.

“For rural communities, we will start from one point of a village to another and also exploit motorbike to access areas that are not motorable,” Nwankwo said. ENDS
