The Abia State Government has initiated the disbursement of interest-free loans to 302 youths who underwent specialized agricultural training. This was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr. Okey Kanu, during a press briefing at the Government House in Umuahia.
The youth beneficiaries had been sponsored by the government in February to attend an agricultural training program at CSS Global Integrated Farms, located in Nassarawa. The training was part of the government’s strategic efforts to enhance food production across the state.
According to the commissioner, the disbursement process follows the recent approval by Governor Alex Otti, which took place in September. The Ministry of Agriculture is overseeing the disbursement to ensure that the loans are properly allocated and that they contribute to boosting agricultural productivity.
This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting youth engagement in agriculture and addressing food security challenges through empowerment and capacity building.
