The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on Federal Government to declare a state of emergency due to escalating violence in the region. Chief Tony Okocha, the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, highlighted the urgent need for intervention, describing the situation as a “full-blown war.”
Chief Okocha stated, “Rivers State is at war. The individuals responsible for the widespread violence, which has resulted in numerous fatalities, are well-known.” He emphasized that both the state governor and the police have been rendered ineffective in addressing the crisis.
Given the severity of the situation, the APC in Rivers State is advocating for a state of emergency as a necessary measure to control the chaos and rising violence. Okocha appealed to the Federal Government to take swift action to restore peace and order in the state.
