The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman for Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, has demanded that former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso be taken into custody on charges that he is a security risk to the state.
This comes after Kwankwaso said that the previous government had bred terrorists from Boko Haram and deceived the Federal Government in order to destabilise Kano during his remarks at the 85-kilometer road construction flag-off in the Madobi village.
Abbas pleaded with security services to hold Kwankwaso so he could name people he believed were sabotaging the government.
He made it clear that the federal government will not be intimidated by Kwankwaso’s threats.

“We want to call on security agents in the strongest terms to arrest this man so that he reveals the identity of those he referred to as enemies of the state working for the federal government to recruit Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents.’’
The chairman noted that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has had sinister motives to foment trouble in Kano.
“Kwankwaso for a long time, has been a security threat to Kano and the nation in view of his antecedents. He runs a movement in which he has been widely accused of recruiting youth, mostly school dropouts, to unleash terror on the people in the state,” he alleged.
Abbas further claimed that hundreds of thugs carrying weapons have been hired and stationed around the emir’s palace, where various illegal substances are being openly peddled, endangering the lives of those living there and nearby. This is in response to the ‘forceful’ enthronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir.
