In a move aimed at fostering transparency and inclusivity in community affairs, the Anambra State Association of Towns Union Youth Wing has appointed Hon. Ejim Ucheagwu as the Chairman of the ASATU YOUTH Committee on Community Youth Election. The appointment, which was warmly accepted by Hon. Ucheagwu, signifies a significant step towards empowering youth participation in governance and decision-making processes.
The decision to appoint Hon. Ucheagwu was reached during a well-attended meeting of ASATU youths held at the union’s headquarters in Government House, Awka Anambra State. The ASATU Youth President, Comrade Kenneth Okoli, highlighted Hon. Ucheagwu’s track record of dedication to community service and his commitment to youth development as pivotal factors in his selection.
In his acceptance letter, Hon. Ucheagwu expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the ASATU Youth Wing. He emphasized his dedication to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process for thecommunity youths in the state, promising to uphold the values of integrity and accountability. He also pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that all forthcoming community youth elections are conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
The ASATU Committee on Community Youth Election, under Hon. Ucheagwu’s leadership, is expected to oversee the planning, organization, and execution of the upcoming youth elections within the ASATU community. This initiative marks a significant milestone in ASATU YOUTH WING’s efforts to empower its youth and cultivate responsible leadership among its members.

In a communique seen by Anaedonline.ng, the Secretary-general of ASATU Youth wing, Com. Orstager P. Chinweuba, the committee which comprises of three-man member were as well given term and reference of their appointment, as seen below;
Appointment of Ad-hoc Committee on Community Youth Elections.
The following persons have been appointed as members of ASATU YOUTH Ad-hoc Committee on Community Youth Elections:
1. Comrade Ejim Ucheagwu – Chairman
2. Comrade Samuel Nwankwor Kuja – Secretary
3. Comrade Dominic Chukwudi – Member
Terms of Reference:
1. To assist the association in guiding communities that are due to organize youth elections by working with the community youth electoral committee to get it right in line with the Asatu Youth Bye-law and the Election Guideline approved by the Ministry of Youth Development in ensuring free, fair and credible elections in the state.
2. To contact the PGs of the town unions that are yet to conduct community youth elections to facilitate for the elections within the timeframe already given to affected communities by the Ministry of Youth Development.
3. Where there is an issue in a community, a member of this committee will serve as the interim chairman of the community electoral committee within the zone where he is from so as to ensure free, fair and credible election is conducted there.
4. To carry out any other task given to it by the leadership of Asatu Youth in line with election matters.
