Dr. Maduka Atuenyi, the President General of Nnewi Town Union, popularly known as Nzuko Orah Nnewi, was freed by the Department of State Services today, Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, after spending many weeks in their custody.
According to reliable sources, The PG was detained by the DSS for an unspecified infraction as a consequence of a petition filed against him by a high-ranking official in Nnewi.
However, some major stakeholders from Nnewi, including the Igwe of Nnewi, HRH, Igwe K.O.N Orizu, Chief Cletus Ibeto, Chief George Muoghalu, Hon Chris Azubogu, Hon Samben Nwosu, Hon Chuma Nzeribe, Nzuko Orah executives led by its Vice Chairman, Prince Jude Osumuo, and its Secretary-General, Hon Eche Homes Anazodo, joined hands and intervened by meeting with the Director-General of DSS to facilitate his unconditional release from their custody.

After spending over four weeks in DSS detention, the PG was released on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 to Prince Jude Osumuo, Vice Chairman of Nzuko Orah Nnewi, and also to the Obi of Uruagu, Afam Obi (Ogidi VI) as the former signed his bail bond together with some members of its executives.
Anaedoonline has yet to get a copy of the petition filed against the PG by a prominent Nnewi figure that resulted in his detention as at press time.
In 2021, Dr. Maduka Atuenyi, a security specialist, was elected as Chairman of Nzuko Orah Nnewi.
In Nnewi town, his administration has seen peace and security.
