The Lagos State High Court has ruled that Martin Otse, known on social media as VeryDarkMan, must take down defamatory content directed at renowned lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Folarin Falana (Falz). The ruling, delivered by Justice M. O. Dawodu in suit no: ID/8584/GCM/2024, was made on Monday.
VeryDarkMan had posted statements on his social media platforms on September 24, 2024, linking Bobrisky to Falz and his father. The court found these claims to be defamatory and damaging to the public image of both Falz and Femi Falana.
Justice Dawodu noted that according to the plaintiffs, VeryDarkMan knowingly spread false information with the intent to harm their reputation. The judge also highlighted that the defamatory posts remain online, furthering the damage to their public standing.
The court has now ordered VeryDarkMan to remove the offensive content from all his social media platforms. Further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses.
