Linus Williams, widely known as BLord, has been detained by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force. The arrest occurred on Tuesday in Abuja and stems from serious allegations including cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism financing, and facilitating internet fraud through his various enterprises.
The Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest in an interview, indicating that multiple complaints had been filed against BLord’s companies. These companies, specifically Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology, are now under thorough investigation by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC).
Adejobi stated, “Yes, we have him with us. The FCID is actively investigating the complaints against BLord Group and its associated entities. The accusations involve cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory standards. We are committed to conducting a meticulous investigation to ensure the safety and security of our cyberspace.”
He also refuted claims that the arrest was prompted by a petition from Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, clarifying that the investigation is based on a broader range of complaints.
The police have assured the public of their dedication to a thorough and fair investigation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a secure digital environment. As the investigation unfolds, the authorities aim to uphold justice and integrity in handling these serious allegations.
