Aisha Yesufu, a businesswoman and political activist from Nigeria, has brought attention to the predicament faced by Nigerian entrepreneurs without government ties by highlighting Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s recent complaints about his refinery project.
In a post on her X account, she wrote, “Nigeria kills its own. I truly agree with you, the refinery should not fail. All hands should be on deck to ensure it succeeds.
“Alhaji Dangote @AlikoDangote now feels what Nigerian business people with no government connections have always felt and gone through.

Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa and a well-known businessman, recently expressed his dissatisfaction at growing government pressure and what he perceived as unfair treatment of his commercial endeavours, particularly the Dangote Refinery. This is not long after Yesufu made his comments.
Dangote claimed he is being called a monopolist in a recent interview, saying, “They have called me a monopolist.” That’s an unfair and false accusation, but it’s acceptable,” he remarked.

“We have been facing fuel crisis since the 70s. This refinery can help in resolving the problem but it does appear some people are uncomfortable that I am in the picture. So I am ready to let go, let the NNPC buy me out, run the refinery,” added Dangote, highlighting his willingness to step aside for the greater good of Nigeria.
