Disregard Rumours Of Missing Genitals - Abia Commissioner Urges Residents
SHARE

Okey Kanu, the commissioner of information and culture for the state of Abia, has pledged that the government will always work with security organisations to ensure that residents’ lives and property are adequately protected.

When the Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and his staff paid him a courtesy call in his office in Umuahia, Kanu made this statement.

The information commissioner advised inhabitants of Abia to ignore the mounting claims of stolen or missing genitalia while promising that his ministry will provide the police with the necessary support and helpful information.

Instead of enforcing the law themselves, he asked the populace to report any suspected cases of missing genitalia to any nearby police station for further inquiry.

Onwuemelie, who emphasised the importance of information to government in his remarks, emphasised the necessity of cooperation between the police and the Abia State Ministry of Information in defending the rights of the populace.

He claimed that the coordination was necessary to make sure that the State was getting proper information out there.

He lamented the prevalence of bogus news in the country, including stories about missing genitalia, and said it was a worrying scenario.

The act of civilised people taking the law into their own hands was also defined by him as barbaric, and he pointed out that most people take advantage of this to unnecessarily terrorise or victimise their so-called adversaries.

Also speaking, the acting Director-General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, BCA, Hyacinth Okoli, expressed worry at the rate of fake news in the society but pointed out that partnership between government information organizations and security agencies would help in adequate security.
