The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is not in its custody, despite recent media reports suggesting otherwise. In a statement released on Wednesday by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, it was emphasized that Bello remains wanted on charges of alleged money laundering amounting to N80.2 billion.
Oyewale stated, “Contrary to media reports, the former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello, is not being held by the EFCC. He remains wanted, with an active warrant for his arrest.
The EFCC had previously declared Bello wanted in connection with the ongoing investigation into the money laundering allegations. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
