Usaini Gumel, the commissioner of the Kano State Police, has declared that Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed emir of Kano, will not be forced out of his Nasarawa Palace.
Gumel stated that because of the ongoing legal dispute, the Police will not execute the eviction order.
He clarified that an eviction order had been filed with the state High Court by the Kano State administration.
In order to make space for renovations, the state government ordered the state’s Police Command to evict Bayero from his Nasarawa Palace on Thursday night.

Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of the state, Haruna Dederi, issued the eviction order.
But according to the CP, following the eviction order would be equivalent to bypassing the legal system.
Addressing the issue on Friday in Kano, Gumel said: “The police will not evict the deposed Emir because the same government has filed a case at the State High Court on the eviction order, which would come up on Monday, 24th June 2024.
“The government is jumping the gun because the same government has filed a case on the eviction order, which is coming up on the 24th of June, 2024.
“So, if we carry out the order, it is like we are preempting the court because we don’t know what will happen at the court.”
