Hamas Releases Two More Hostages, US Makes Demands

Prior to considering Gaza ceasefire negotiations, the US government demanded on Tuesday that Palestinian militants release more than 200 prisoners.

This comes following Tuesday’s transport of two elderly Hamas hostages to an Israeli hospital so they could be reunited with their families.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, on October 7, gunmen from Hamas stormed Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing at least 1,400 people.

Israeli officials claim that on the first day of the raid, the majority of people were either shot or burned to death.

Additionally, 222 people were taken hostage by the militants, including elderly and young children.

Numerous people with dual citizenship and foreigners are among the hostages.

According to the Gaza-based Hamas health ministry, more than 5,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed across the Gaza Strip in retaliatory Israeli bombardments.

Among the hostages taken on October 7 were Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, and his 80-year-old wife, Nurit Cooper, 79.

Following mediation by Qatar and Egypt, Hamas freed Cooper and Lifshitz on Monday, citing “compelling humanitarian” grounds.

Days have passed since the release of a mother and daughter from the United States.

As family members gathered nearby, the women were brought into the facility on a stretcher and wheelchair.

Lifshitz described how he was loaded onto the back of a motorbike and taken to Gaza.

She told Israeli media, “They loaded me on a motorcycle sideways so I wouldn’t fall, with one terrorist holding me from the front and the other from behind.

“They crossed the border fence into the Gaza Strip, and at first they held me in the town of Abesan, which is near Be’eri. After that, I don’t know where I was taken.”
