Andy Uba, a former senator from Anambra South, is facing charges from Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for alleged fraud.
The former legislator and two other people, Crystal Uba and Benjamin Etu, are facing a two-count accusation with the filing number FHC/ABJ/CR/538/2024.
The charge was submitted to Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 8.

According to count one, Uba, Crystal, Etu, and one Hajiya Fatima—who is currently at large—allegedly plotted to carry out the crime in 2022.
They were accused of misleading a man named George Uboh by saying that anyone who was prepared to pay N400 million might get the position of Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, or NDDC.
In a plea to the IGP dated April 5, 2023, Uboh claimed to have voice and documentary evidence.
Six witnesses have been called by the prosecution to testify against the former legislator and other suit defendants.
M.L. Anthony, the prosecution’s attorney, told the court on November 13 that the defendants had been avoiding the court documents’ serve even after being granted administrative bail.

He said that the defendants were able to secure an enforcement order for fundamental rights, which stopped the police from bringing them to court.
According to the attorney, the defendants were not charged in court until the order was lifted.
Justice Ekwo adjourned the matter to February 18, 2025, for arraignment of the defendants.
