The opposition parties’ claim that the government spent N5 billion to reserve every hotel in Imo State in preparation for the state’s upcoming governorship election has been refuted by Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration as an utter lie.
Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, reportedly stated that the government was not aware of any such arrangement while interacting with media in Owerri, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
He stressed that social media has never been used by the government to communicate with stakeholders.

He said, “The government is not aware of any such hotel bookings. The government does not correspond with stakeholders through social media and will not do so.”
Emelumba stated that Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the election in a free and fair contest, despite rumours that thugs from adjacent states are being sent in to manipulate the results.
In addition, he stated that the government was aware of the opposition’s plans to inundate the state with goons in advance of the polls, emphasising that the issue was being discussed with the appropriate security agencies in order to take the appropriate measures.
As a result, he urged the people of Imo to set aside the theatrics of the opposition and concentrate on giving the governor a second term, which he deserved, so that he could carry on with his excellent work.
He said, “The opposition knows that they have already lost the election. That is why they are fabricating all manner of lies to distract the government, like this hotels propaganda.”
