In Imo State local government area of Ehime Mbano, military and unknown gunmen engaged in gunfire that is reported to have left numerous people maimed and dead.
The attack happened Friday night at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano, according to reports.
“Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,” a source claimed.
“The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,” the source added.

Following the incident, residents fled in panic amid constant shootings that filled the air, creating a climate of fear and uncertainty.
“We are terrified,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous.
“The sound of gunfire is still echoing in our ears. We don’t know what will happen next. We are worried.
“Ehime used to be a serene environment, and we don’t know what is happening,” he added.
When contacted by newsmen, the Nigerian Army and the Police had not yet responded with a statement regarding the incident as of the time the report was filed.

This occurs a few days after the National Open University centre in Ezeoke Nsu Ehime Mbano Local Government and the home of former legislator Frank Ibezim, who represented the Okigwe senatorial zone in the 9th Assembly, were set on fire.
The Police Command of Imo State denounced the incident.
