The Anambra State International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka, will bear Chief Willie Obiano’s name, the most recent governor of the state.
During the Thursday Anambra Investment Summit 2023 event held at the centre Awka, the governor of the Anambra state, Prof. Soludo, dropped a hint.
“Laying The Foundation for a Prosperous Smart Mega City” was the theme of the Anambra State investment summit.

Soludo stated , this is in honour of his great contribution to the development of the state.
Soludo, who praised the former governor for having the vision to erect the building, claimed that Obiano deserved the honour.
Despite not having told Chief Obiano about his plans, the governor claimed that the latter deserved to be honoured by having a centre named in his honour.
He said that the moment had come to commemorate each and every Anambra leader who had made significant contributions to the state’s growth.
“The International Conference centre ICC,Awka will be name after chief Willie Obiano for his vision. We will also find other institutions to name after other past governors like chief Emeka Ezeife, Dr Chris Nhige , Peter Obi.

We will also pay respect to other Ndi Anambra citizens, he said, who have made significant contributions to the state’s growth.
He added that the state government will create awards to recognise individuals who had been making sacrifices.
He claims that when awarding recognition, the contribution the recipient has made to the state’s development and the number of people employed by them would be taken into account.
