The Lagos State Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 19-year-old boy, who was allegedly beaten to death by his father. The incident was confirmed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday.
According to Hundeyin, the Alagbado Police Division received a report of the alleged crime on Tuesday. The incident occurred on July 5, when a man named Olumide allegedly inflicted a severe cut on his son, Adeyemi, with a shovel during what was described as a moderate correction for an undisclosed offense. The injury was located on the right side of Adeyemi’s body.
Following the attack, Adeyemi was rushed to a hospital for treatment. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to the General Hospital Ikeja, where he succumbed to a tetanus infection, as confirmed by the attending doctor.
Detectives from the Alagbado Police Division visited the scene, but the victim’s father has since fled. The case remains under investigation.
