The Anglican Diocese of Nnewi has opened the first Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, And Digital Innovation Hub in Nnewi, at Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary, Nnewi.
The hub was declared open today, Saturday, 17th August, 2024, by the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi.
Declaring the hub open, Bishop Ndubuisi Obi said that he is excited that despite the challenges, the Diocese is taking a gaint leap into the future with the establishment of the hub.
According to him, the hub will be the first Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Hub established by a Church in Nigeria and perhaps in Africa.
He revealed that the Diocese began the journey which many thought was ambitious or wild, when they started the teaching of Robotics Coding and Artificial Intelligence in secondary schools owned by the Diocese.
To take it a step further, he said that after he discovered that the students in those schools were willing to learn more especially those who wanted to be creators, Innovators, and leaders in this new technological world, he decided to open the hub for sustained learning.
Speaking further, Bishop Ndubuisi Obi said that in his bid to put the Diocese on the map as a leader in technology education, he decided to partner with EDUFUN Technik, led by Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu, a Harvard Graduate.

He said that he believes that with partnership, the hub will inspire students to pursue careers in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics; Data Science, Cybersecurity, and others.
On her part, Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu expressed her appreciation to the Bishop for setting up the hub, stating that her dream is coming to reality.
She said that the turning point came, when she met Bishop Ndubuisi Obi in 2021 and unveiled the vision to him, but against what she has experienced in the past, the Bishop immediately endorsed the idea, and began discussions on how to partner with her.
According to her, the hub is more than just a building filled with computers and robots, but a place where doctors, lawyers, engineers, or entrepreneurs will gain skills in critical thinking, digital literacy, and innovative problem-solving.
