A historic moment unfolded on Saturday with the official commissioning of the Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu Ultra-Modern Complex (A60B and A60C Golden Line) at Agbo-Edo Market, Nnewi. The complex, a stunning mordern infrastructure project consisting of eleven buildings with 176 shops, was built in a record time of just ten days under the administration of Hon. Echezona Anazodo.
The landmark event was presided over by Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto, a revered industrialist and philanthropist, who lauded the project as a testament to the unwavering commitment to infrastructural development in Anambra State.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Markets, Mr. Everest Ubah, commended the structural integrity and design of the complex, emphasizing its potential to boost economic activities in the bustling market, he as well praised the swift execution of the project as a model of efficiency and collaboration. Engr. Chike Mmaduike, the Anambra State Director of the Physical Planning Board, however, pointed out the buildings in the market needed to be reconstructed to meet up with new state standard for markets.
Traditional leaders graced the occasion with their royal presence, including the Obi of Uruagu community, Obi Adam Obi, and the Obi of Umudim community, Obi Bennett Okafor, who both expressed pride in the transformation of Nnewi’s commercial landscape. Mr. Dennis Ikegwuonu, Chairman of the Motor Parts Dealers Association, highlighted the complex’s role in expanding trade and enhancing the market’s reputation as a commercial hub.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, whose administration spearheaded the project, attributed its success to the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and the unwavering support of market community. He reiterated his commitment to fostering infrastructural growth in Nnewi under the mordern infrastructural template of the Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

His words; “We are in the era of reconstruction and rehabilitation. The overflow of the building prompted us to do something about it. Through the help of some top stakeholder and also the coperation of the market union we were able to pull off with success the construction of eleven(11) building that has 176 shops in total in just a short period of ten(10)days, using the new template of our solution Governor of remodernisation of our markets.
Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of the complex in honoring the legacy of Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, an illustrious son of Anambra State and a trailblazer in commerce and philanthropy. He urged traders and the community to make optimal use of the facility to enhance economic growth, praying and blessing the new occupants of the facility to grow bigger than him.
The newly commissioned complex is expected to not only accommodate traders but also catalyze further development in Agbo-Edo Market, solidifying its position as a pivotal trading center in Southeast Nigeria (the Japan of Africa).

Echezona Anazodo, the Special Adviser to the governor on Market, Hon. Everest Ubah, the Anambra State Director Physical Planning Board, (ANSPPB), Engr. Chike Mmaduike, the former Chairman Nnewi North Local Govt. Hon. Amobi Chikwendu, Anambra South Senatorial Bye-election Aspirant, Hon Patrick Ubajaka (Ike Nnewi), the Nnewi North Motor Parts Chairman, Mr. Ikegwuonu Dennis, Former Nnewi North Local Govt. Transition Chairman, Hon. Mbazuluike Iloka, Chairman Organiser Oil and Gas, Chief Innocent Okoli, the Chairman Nnewi Importers Association, Hon. Austin Manuel, the Chief of Staff to the Nnewi North Mayor, Hon. Jude Osumuoh, the President Nnewyi Youth Forum, Hon. Ucheagwu Ejim and a host of others.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the facility, showcasing its modern design and amenities,followed by prayers for its success and sustainability. The tour was also extended with the entourage led by Mayor of Nnewi, Hon Echezona Anazodo, to visit the neighbouring market known as ‘Afia Mgbede’ that some weeks ago had a very tragic fire incidence that saw the market burnt to the ground.
