Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has received a strong warning from the Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) not to use his recent remarks to turn the Southwest into a battlefield.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Ganduje expressed optimism that the APC would win Oyo and Osun states in upcoming elections when visiting Akure, Ondo State, on Sunday following INEC’s announcement of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the victor of the governorship race.

Tosin Odeyemi, the NNPP’s Osun chairman, blasted Ganduje’s comments in a statement released in Osogbo on Monday, calling them foolish and unworthy of an elder statesman, particularly in light of the current economic sufferings that Nigerians are facing under the APC-led administration.
“One would have expected Dr. Ganduje to demonstrate better communication skills befitting his position. With the economic challenges Nigerians are facing, who would willingly vote for the APC? Ganduje should not be carried away by what transpired in Ondo State.
“Osun people are wise and peace-loving. Each party must allow voters to decide freely. Ganduje must not turn the Southwest into a war zone. Spoken words carry weight, and 2026 must be crisis-free in Osun,” he said.
He also pushed Ganduje to run in his own state, where the NNPP had previously defeated the party by a wide majority, in order to demonstrate the APC’s support.
