Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, visited Tijani Babangida, the former Super Eagles winger who was killed in a car accident last month.
The incident that killed his son and younger brother Ibrahim, who also competed for Nigeria in the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup, resulted in the 50-year-old former Nigerian international player breaking his right leg. Tijiani’s spouse sustained severe injuries as well.

Speaking just hours after seeing the hurt Babangida in Abuja on Thursday, Obi stated that Tijani and his late brother Ibrahim had both served their country with honour.
In his words, ” They made us happy with their talents, and in times like this, they deserve our sympathy and attention.
“I came to commensurate with him for the wound, for the lost ones, for the trauma and to show him that he is not forgotten”, he said.
