The media team of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has indicated that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate does not appreciate opponents using facts and data instead of just bluster.
The team highlighted that Obi’s assertions could be verified and that several analysts had looked into them.
The Ob-Datti Media Office stated in a statement made available to Newsmen on Sunday that it was aware of Tinubu and his party’s attempts to cast doubt on his counterpart, Obi’s, informed use of data, saying that the APC candidate could not stand Obi’s figures.

Tinubu claimed during a rally in Gbaramatu, Delta State, that Obi lied about figures.
He described him Obi as a man that was not wanted by Nigerians because “he lies with arithmetic that no mathematician can solve.”
“To mention his name is a disgrace to me. He gives out wrong arithmetic and wrong statistics on the economy. That is not what Nigerians want. Nigerians need honesty, they need the man who knows the road to take, and that man is me,” Tinubu stated.
In response, the Obi campaign argued that the LP candidate was full of practical ideas and was demystifying electioneering language by using straightforward facts and data in his campaigns.
“Providing the numbers demonstrates Obi’s readiness for the high office of President if and when elected by Nigerian people in 2023.”

The Obi-Datti Media Office stated that it was aware of other presidential candidates’ struggle to keep up with Obi’s speed and depth of knowledge of topics. “This has resulted in a great scheme to divert his attention away from issue-driven campaigns that are resonating very well with Nigerians who are ready and committed to reclaiming their country from forces that have held it down over the years.”
“Our candidate has said repeatedly that his assertions were verifiable and dared anybody with contrary facts and figures to come up. Analysts, media houses, and opponents have formed fact-checking units in their organisations ostensibly to contradict Obi’s facts and figures.
“The acceptable mantra is always if you can’t beat them join them, but in Nigerian politics, the reverse is the case: if you can’t beat them pull them down. That is what Obi’s opponents who cannot cope with his deep know-how about the economy are doing,” the team said, alleging that “the fact that the APC man has questionable bio-data has left the electorate guessing his real age and health status.”
