The Akwa Ibom State Police Command successfully rescued ten pregnant women from a baby factory operated by a 56-year-old woman, Eunice Eze. This was disclosed by Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo.
The breakthrough occurred on July 15, when actionable intelligence led to the arrest of Eunice Eze at World Bank Estate in Owerri at 4:30 pm. Eze is accused of running a baby factory and stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom through her agent, identified as Ability Tom.
In a related development, the police also apprehended a notorious kidnapper, who, along with his group, was responsible for numerous kidnappings and murders in the state. During the operation, police recovered a significant cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, two G3 rifles, one double-barrel rifle, five magazines, and seven live rounds of ammunition. These firearms were found in a private mortuary being used as an armory in Ekeya, Okobo Local Government Area.
