Adebayo Shittu, a former minister of communications for Nigeria, has called the impending #EndBadGovernance protest, which is set to take place from August 1 to 10, traitorous and potentially fatal.
Shittu asserts that the demonstration, which calls for regime change and addresses economic concerns, essentially intends to overthrow the current government, which he contends is treasonous.
In the face of resistance from the interviewers, Shittu stuck to his position during a News Central interview. He claimed that his opinions shouldn’t be constrained by the opinions of others, and he denounced attempts to limit his understanding of the nature of the protest.

Shittu stated, “You want to protest, want to end bad governance. That mischievously implies that you want to remove the government, which in itself is a treasonable act.”
Shittu persisted in his remarks despite being advised by the interview’s hosts not to describe a protest action as improper.
“Your restricting interpretation should not be imposed on all Nigerians, Mr Shittu told his interviewers.
The #EndBadGovernance demonstrations are being planned in reaction to Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s worsening economic conditions and growing food costs.
Already, there have been reports of rallies against the worsening economic crisis in Suleja.
