On Wednesday, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara chastised Nyesom Wike, the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory and current minister, saying that people mourn behind the scenes but dance in the media.
The remarks were made during a visit of solidarity from the Ogbakor Etche community in Port Harcourt.
It seemed as though Fubara was reacting to a video of Wike dancing that went viral on social media the previous week.
Wike was seen in the video sporting a blue street-style coat by Versace that is allegedly worth over N2 million.

The video generated a lot of discussion, with many people criticising Wike for extravagantly spending money on clothing in the face of Nigeria’s current economic problems.
Speaking to the Etche people, Fubara advised his supporters not to be duped by the deeds of his rivals in politics.
He stated, “Don’t let anybody deceive you. They can come to the media and dance but when they go behind, they cry.
“The truth is that we don’t know how to dance but we say it the way it is and we stand tall anywhere we go.”
“They can come to the media and dance, when they go behind, they cry!.
Fubara concluded by asserting his confidence and dismissing his political foes, stating, “They are gone.”
