The state capital of Jos, where the Saints Academy collapsed, leaving 132 people injured and 22 dead, has drawn harsh criticism from the Plateau administration for its poor architectural standards.
The two-story school, which is situated in Jos North LGA’s Busa Buji hamlet, collapsed on Friday when instructors and pupils were in their courses for the third term exam.
The school has roughly 400 pupils, according to Musa Ashoms, Plateau commissioner for information and communication, who spoke at the scene of the event. He also mentioned that 200 children were housed in the area that collapsed.

He claimed that the school building that fell was not constructed according to requirements because it was located on a wet location.
Ashoms released a statement giving an update on the tragedy and stating that 154 people were injured, 22 of whom died.
According to the Plateau commissioner, 132 people are presently undergoing care at several state hospitals.
“The collapse resulted in 154 fatalities and injuries. Emergency responders are currently at the scene conducting search and rescue operations,” the commissioner said.
As of 6:00 pm, 154 people have been rescued from the debris. Sadly, 22 individuals have been confirmed deceased. “Injured students and staff are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals across Jos”, he added.
