In an attempt to protect women’s rights and girls’ welfare in Nigeria, the Senate Committee on Women Affairs (SCOWAS) has demanded a coordinated national campaign to end violence against women.
Ireti Kingibe, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Women’s Affairs, strongly advocated a group effort to establish a society freed from the threat of gender-based violence (GBV) during the launch event of “The OrangeNIGERIA” initiative.
According to Kingibe, the programme is carefully planned to address the root causes of GBV through coordinated cooperation, giving inclusion, education, and community involvement first priority.

In her speech at the project’s launch, Kingibe stressed that OrangeNIGERIA seeks to encourage honest and productive dialogue in order to enable people to speak out against violence.
The project’s goal goes beyond empty words; instead, it emphasises doable actions that will improve public perceptions of GBV.
She said, “This project is not just a Senate initiative; it is a national call to action.
“We must stand together to create a society where everyone feels safe, heard, and valued,” Kingibe said.
The Senate and SCOWAS extend an invitation to individuals, community-based groups, and business associates to collaborate on this revolutionary endeavour.
Together, they work to establish a world free from gender-based violence, where respect and equality are the norm.
