Famous broadcaster and journalist Oseni Rufai revealed that since the first quarter of 2024, there hasn’t been any foreign investment in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) verified Rufai’s claims.
On Monday, Rufai posted this assertion on his Twitter account.
He said that the country’s foreign capital investments in the oil and gas business have decreased from $720 million in 2016 to $3.64 million for the entire year 2023, despite efforts by the federal government to draw more international investors into the sector.

His post reads, “Despite efforts by the government to attract more foreign investors into the oil and gas sector, the nation’s foreign capital investments in the industry nosedived from $720m in 2016 to $3.64m in the entire 2023.
“The country also recorded no foreign capital investment in the first quarter of 2024, a report by the National Bureau of Statistics showed.
“The report indicated that out of the $3.38bn capital importation into Nigeria in the first three months of 2024, the petroleum industry got nothing,” he said.
