Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, formally informed the State House of Assembly of his medical leave in accordance with medical advice that advocates for ongoing health monitoring following recuperation.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, acknowledged receipt of the letter on behalf of other legislators and confirmed that the Governor’s conduct is in compliance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s (as amended) Constitution.

Until a contrary written declaration is made, Deputy Governor Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa is now designated to take on the governorship in an acting capacity, according to the communication.
The leave is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Speaker Oladiji expressed gratitude for the Governor’s quick recovery and expressed hope that Akeredolu would soon resume his official responsibilities.
