On Friday, Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, identified people responsible for the agitator’s continuing detention.
Ejimakor alleged that the Presidency, not the Supreme Court, is holding the agitator.
He stated this while emphasising that the Federal Government cannot continue to jail Kanu notwithstanding the release of Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho.
Ejimakor claimed on X that Yoruba elders assisted Igboho’s release.
UPDATE: Aloy Ejimakor Appeals To Bola Tinubu For Kanu’s Release
According to Ejimakor: “The persisting incarceration of MAZI NNAMDI KANU has become more unsustainable with the release of SUNDAY IGBOHO, especially as it was done with the support of Yoruba leaders & Tinubu (@officialABAT). To be sure, it’s the Presidency that is holding #MNK, not the Supreme Court.”
Igboho recently regained his freedom after spending two years in Beniese prison after fleeing Nigeria in response to a DSS pronouncement.
Kanu was apprehended in Kenya around the same time as Igboho and subjected to extraordinary rendition.
Kanu has been imprisoned by the DSS as his trial has continued after his return to Nigeria.
