“God Is The Solution To Nigeria’s Problem” – Pastor Adeboye
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has charged Nigerians to always demand accountability from their elected leaders adding that God is the only solution to Nigeria’s problem.
Pastor Adeboye, who gave the call at the Special Prayer and Thanksgiving for Professors, lecturers, teachers, youth Corps members, students and their families at the RCCG Headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, on Sunday said such move would help in deepening democratic and participatory governance in Nigeria
Represented by the Assistant General Overseer, Administration, and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, Adeboye said Nigeria should be prepared to hold leaders to account.
He said: “The issue of praise-singing corrupt leaders and giving them titles is actually establishing, amplifying and concretizing deterioration of the state.

“In the community where I grew up, if anyone is found to be a thief, he or she will be ex-communicated from the community but today people give excuses for corrupt leaders because he or she is from their tribe or culture.
“I have not seen anywhere who has gone to jail and is still in politics and holding public offices.
“It will take goodwill and strong courage for Nigeria to move forward. God will help us, but we should learn from nations where law and order have broken down.
“They have been spending money on education, health, roads, and light but with nothing to show for it because the vacuum of the true and righteous God in them is not filled.
“God is the solution to our problems and as long as leaders refuse to recognize this salient truth and give Him position in their hearts, they would continue to chase shadows and have no answer to their confession that Nigeria’s problems are so complicated that as they are solving one, other bigger ones are raising up their ugly heads to the extent that the latter would even rubbish the problems they thought they have solved.”

12-Year-Old Igbo Boy Bags Award For New Discovery In Mathematics
Master Chika Ofili, a 12-year-old Nigerian boy based in the UK, has bagged a special award for recognition after making a shocking new discovery in mathematics.
He is said to have discovered a new formula for divisibility by 7 in mathematics.
Every other number from 1 to 9 has a formula for divisibility except for 7.
His new formula for divisibility of 7 is to multiply the first and last digit in the figure together and then add it to the first two digits, then check if the new figure is a multiple of 7.

Borders Closure: FG Made The Right Decision – Lawmaker
A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Bisi Yusuf, says the closure of land borders will end the menace of turning Nigeria to a dumping ground of all kinds of fake and expired products.
Yusuf, APC representing Alimosho Constituency 1, made the assertion on Sunday in an interview with reporters in Lagos.
According to him, this is the best thing that can happen to the country now.
“The closure of the nation’s land border will curb the menace of turning the country into a dumping ground.
“We go as far as importing tomatoes, toothpicks and other items God has blessed us with, we import them to the country.

“Not only grains and domestics products are being smuggled to the country, but also weapons and dangerous items due to the porosity of our land borders.
“We are importing it to the country and it’s not coming directly to our ports.
“If those goods should really be coming directly to our ports, we can tax and collect our money, but not smuggling from the neighboring countries,” he said.
The lawmaker added that some criminal-minded people also took advantage of the porous borders to smuggle weapons into the country, thereby posing security challenges to the government.
“We normally shout that our borders are porous; when you get to the United States or Canada or anywhere in the world, there is nothing like illegal smuggling of arms.
“We are not closing the borders against the foreigners, they can come in, but all we are saying is that we are not allowing any illegal goods to enter our country again.
“No country will allow that. So, that is what we have been saying about it and it is good.
“We have farmers in this country, the big time farmers that can plant and produce rice for our local consumption,” he added.
Yusuf also said that the borders’ closure would allow and create big markets for the local rice.
“The demand is now increasing at the market, people are buying it and we are eating it,” he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari had extended the closure of Nigeria’s land borders with neighboring countries until Jan. 31.
Land borders with countries including Benin and Niger have been partially closed since Aug. 20 in a move to curb the smuggling of rice and other commodities.
