The member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Ogbaru Constituency Two under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Somtochukwu Udeze has been elected Speaker of the Eight Assembly.
His emergence followed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s proclamation of the eight Assembly and its inauguration at the House of Assembly Complex in Awka.
Following an election and call for nominations to fill the office of Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency Two, emerged.

Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, member elect from Awka South Constituency 2, was elected Deputy Speaker.
They accepted their nomination and were confirmed by voice vote.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barrister JPC Anaeto, members of the State Executive Council, attended the event.
