A joint police-army squad in Anambra State has apprehended a five-man gang of unknown gunmen.
According to reports, the gang invaded the 33 Police Divisional Headquarters in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi LGA, on Sunday around 6 a.m.
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the attack, said the gunmen had a car, Ak47 weapons, charms, and other stuff.

Ikenga also reported that the gang rushed the police headquarters, shooting indiscriminately in an attempt to gain access to the station, but were met with stiff opposition from station police personnel.
According to him: “The combined security team, made up of the Police and the military, today 19/2/2023 by 5:58 am, neutralized a gang of five armed men, recovered two Ak-47 rifles, one Toyota Sienna vehicle with Reg No Abuja ABC 848 EQ, charms and other incriminating items, in response to a distress call on an attack at 33 Police Divisional Headquarters, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi LGA.”
