Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, the chairman of the Anambra Universal Basic Education Board, has given basic education teachers the highest standards to uphold.
Nwadinobi noted that teachers, particularly in primary schools, had developed a lax attitude toward their jobs.
For the sake of the students’ best performance, she commanded them to alter their demeanour and become more serious and dedicated to their duties.
Nwadinobi made the statement on Friday while on a monitoring tour of a few select primary schools in the state’s Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area.
She also reminded the teachers that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is a disciplined teacher, who is passionate about high standards of teachers and teaching.

According to her, the genuine desire and intention of the present administration are to replicate top-notch high standards in Anambra schools, which the teachers must key into.
Nwadinobi, who discovered to her disappointment, that punctuality to school is a major problem for teachers, noticed that even the head teachers were not an exception as only 10 out of 29 teachers in one school were present as of the time of the morning assembly, until 8 am when she left.
She, however, reminded them that dedicated teachers are supposed to be in school before the morning assembly which starts at 7.30 am.
“Henceforth, disciplinary actions will be meted out on any teacher that plays with his/her job, as it will no longer be business as usual because basic education is the foundational level and very delicate, which they should always bear in mind,” she added.
