Hon. Echezona Anazodo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been declared the winner of the keenly contested Nnewi North Local Government Area chairmanship election. The official announcement was made by the ANSIEC returning officer for the Nnewi North Local Government Area Elections on Sunday evening following the conclusion of vote counting.
Hon. Anazodo secured a decisive victory over his closest rivals, earning the trust and confidence of the people of Nnewi North. His victory is seen as a continuation of APGA’s dominance in local politics, especially in the South-East region, where the party holds significant influence.

The election, which took place under tight security, was marked by a minimal voter turnout, with voters showing enthusiasm in shaping the future of their local government. Speaking after the results were announced, Hon. Anazodo expressed his gratitude to the people of Nnewi North for their overwhelming support and pledged to fulfill his campaign promises.
“I am deeply honored by the trust the people of Nnewi North have placed in me,” he said. “I assure you that my administration will prioritize good governance, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment. APGA leaders and supporters in Nnewi have hailed the election result as a testament to the party’s deep roots in the region. Meanwhile, the opposition candidate have rejected the outcome of the election, referring to it as ‘APGA Election’.
Hon. Anazodo’s win reinforces APGA’s political standing in Anambra State as the party continues to solidify its influence at the grassroots level across local governments.
