Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, has opted not to comment on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUUopposition )’s to his professorship.
Pantami was elevated to a professorship at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in September 2021, among seven other academics, during the council’s 186th meeting.
The minister’s elevation as a professor of Cybersecurity by the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, was condemned as illegitimate by ASUU on Monday.

According to ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke, the decision was made by the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) at a meeting conducted on Sunday night.
However, FUTO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nnenna Oti, has stated that the university has taken the case to court, and that ASUU has no authority to challenge the university.
Pantami, though, told State House journalists that he would not comment on the case since the institution had sued the union over the matter.
“I have no remark on the topic,” he stated. No response to your second question. There is no comment, and there is no comment.
“That is my stance. I’m here on official business, and he inquires about my responsibilities. So, anything relating to my ministry of communications and digital economy is subject to you, which is why I’ve come here. I was unable to leave the house.
