Emeka Ihedioha, the immediate past Governor of Imo State, has stated that he was unaware of his selection as a running mate for PDP presidential contender Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku is reportedly considering appointing the former Speaker of the House of Representatives as his running partner for the 2023 presidential election, according to reports.
In a statement released earlier, Atiku rejected the viral reports, stating that he had yet to choose his presidential running mate. Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, told Newsmen on Thursday that rumours that his principle had selected Ihedioha or anybody else as his running mate were false.

He noted that the PDP presidential candidate would announce his running mate when the time is right. He, however, asked supporters and well-wishers of the PDP Presidential candidate to wait for the official announcement of the running mate.
He said, “When we decide to speak on the issue of running mate, it will not be a subject of speculation, we will roll it out. It is not going to be something that will be speculated on social media, online platforms or Whatsapp groups.
“So from my own stable, I cannot confirm that to be true. These are the times for all manner of speculations. People should endeavour to wait for the official announcement. But this speculation is unknown to me.”
