In his own words, Bishop Okpala said, “Jesus Christ, who God sent to die our supposed death so as to wipe away our sins for us to truly become children of God. There is no other way we can become children of God. This is our central theme and we have come today for renewal service.”
“First, these children receiving Sacrament of Confirmation today were baptized when they were infants. Their godfathers and mothers received some promises on their behalf but now they have come on their own to receive this sacrament by themselves. They have come before us today for them to renew those promises they made during their baptism for them to start a new beginning of life in Christ.”
Speaking Further , he said ” This is also the promise made by members of different societies in the church such as brigadiers, women guild, Anglican men’s fellowship, etc. On their day of promise, they pledged to be an active member of the church, community, and society at large and also to lead others to Christ.”
