The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the apprehension of the individuals responsible for operating the boat in which the late actor, Junior Pope, and three others tragically lost their lives.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, the boat operators are currently detained by the police in connection with the incident. Ikenga disclosed to our correspondent on Saturday that the operators, along with the movie producer, Adanma Luke, have been taken into custody, and interrogation is underway.
Ikenga emphasized the commitment of the police force to thoroughly investigate the incident, stating, “No stone will be left unturned.”

The tragic news of Junior Pope’s death was shared by filmmaker Samuel Olatunji on Wednesday, April 10. Olatunji revealed that the actor, along with three others, lost their lives in a boating accident while en route to a filming location.
“Four actors, including Jnr Pope, fell into Anam River on their way to a location, and their bodies have been recovered,” Olatunji stated.
As the investigation progresses, other members of the cast and crew of the movie are expected to be invited for questioning. The film industry mourns the loss of Junior Pope and the other victims, and efforts to ensure accountability for the tragedy remain ongoing.
