On Thursday, President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) gave his approval for Mallam Shekarau Omar to be reappointed for a second term as Executive Director of Small and Medium Enterprises.
Omar will now serve for an additional four years; his initial term was set to expire on March 5, 2023.
Ifedayo Sayo, the Minister of Trade and Investment’s Senior Assistant Media, made this information public in a statement.
Omar, the current ED SME, has repositioned the SME Directorate by notably expanding the portfolio and notably improving the quality of the risk assets.
In a similar vein, the President gave his approval to Mabel Ndagi’s appointment as Executive Director, which will begin on March 19, 2023.

The statement reads, “Ndagi will be replacing a retiring Executive Director, Toyin Adeniji, who would be retiring March 18, 2023, after serving her second and final term in office.
“She is currently the General Manager, Government and External Communications for the Bank of Industry. Ms Ndagi has served diligently in the bank for over 16 years.”
