Nigerian actor Nwaogu Udochukwu Victor, widely known as Nkubi, recently shared the story of his memorable meeting with the renowned folktale singer Gentleman Mike Ejeagha. Ejeagha has gained renewed online fame after skit maker Brain Jotter featured his decades-old song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” in a viral dance video, sparking interest among many.
Amid the buzz surrounding Ejeagha, Nkubi reminisced about his visit to the veteran musician in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State, during his university final-year project. The actor, known for his small stature, highlighted Ejeagha’s significance in Igbo land, noting that his music genre, Folklore, resonates deeply with Igbo culture.
Nkubi recounted the two-hour conversation he had with Ejeagha, which was instrumental for his final-year project focused on Folklore. He chose the “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” hitmaker as his case study, believing Ejeagha’s work to be a perfect fit for his research topic.
